Following a recent site inspection of Coed Ynys-Faen (Tudor Cule) it is evident that recent weather damage, problems relating to the ongoing spread of Ash and Birch Die-Back, and degradation of the tree canopy and embankment from previous weather events have resulted in a material degradation in the safety of the site. There are now numerous trees felled or in danger of sudden falling that pose an unacceptable risk.
Â
The risks associated with the site are such that an extraordinary meeting of the Trustee Board has been held, and it is with great sadness that the decision has been taken to close the site until further notice.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this, but I am sure you will agree that Health and Safety has to come first. I will of course, let you know when the site reopens, probably in 2025/2016
Â
Please accept my apologies on behalf of Monmouthshire District Scout Council, the Tudor Cule Committee and our DC, Alex Hawkins.
Thank you for your cooperation.
